COVID-19 Response &
School Opening Status

We are excited to welcome our community back for the 2022-2023 school year! While we realize that the pandemic is not over, we are prepared to rebuild student learning experiences and welcome our parents back onto campuses. Please check this page frequently for updates pertaining to COVID-19 protocols throughout the year. Please note, the School will be requiring a Back to School Declaration Form to be submitted for each student prior to returning for any on-campus back to school activities.

This webpage will serve as your information hub regarding the School’s current opening status and further protocols.

Dear LILA Community,

As promised in my March 21 email, and before we pause for spring break, I am writing to confirm our health and safety protocols for the weeks ahead.

> As previously communicated, all students must submit date-stamped proof of a negative COVID-19 test result to return to campus following spring break. Please refer to recent issues of Mosaïque for full details and schedule testing appointments as necessary.
> Weekly surveillance testing will continue for all students and employees in the short term but will be reviewed when term resumes. Please refer to Mosaïque for campus-specific details.
> Daily temperature checks will be maintained for all students until further notice and will also be reviewed when term resumes.
> Mask-wearing will continue to be optional for all students (preschool – 12th grade), employees, and visitors on all of our campuses, both indoors and outdoors. While many of our students and employees have chosen to remove their masks indoors – and it has been wonderful to see more of their smiles! – many have felt more comfortable continuing to wear their masks. Thank you for your ongoing respect of each other’s comfort levels.
> As a school, we will continue to identify specific opportunities for welcoming parents onto campuses for in-person events for the remainder of the school year.

I take this opportunity to thank you once again for your commitment to our community. As always, I will be in touch should there be a need for further changes to our health and safety protocols.

Best wishes for a relaxing spring break,

Michael Maniska
Head of School

Dear LILA Community,

I remain grateful to you all for your ongoing partnership in helping to protect all members of our school family.

In view of the continued decrease in the LA County COVID-19 case rate, latest county ordinances, and in consultation with our medical advisory group, we have decided to revise our health and safety protocols further.

What is changing before April break?

> Beginning Friday, April 1, mask-wearing will be optional for all students (preschool – 12th grade), employees, and visitors, both indoors and outdoors on all our campuses.

We have observed that many of our students and employees continue to wear masks outdoors despite no longer being required to do so. We anticipate that this will be the case for indoor masking too. We respect our community members’ decisions regarding mask-wearing, and we thank you for being considerate of each other’s preferences and comfort levels.

What remains the same until April break?

> The weekly surveillance testing requirement has been extended for all students and employees at least until April break.
> Daily temperature checks will be maintained for all students.
> Families should continue to review the student health check in Mosaïque each week and check for symptoms before arriving at school each morning. Students experiencing any symptoms should be kept home.
> All students will be required to submit date-stamped proof of a negative COVID-19 test result to return to campus following April break. Please refer to upcoming issues of Mosaïque for full details and schedule testing appointments as necessary.

As always, we will continue to monitor evolving health conditions and updated guidance to determine whether further changes to our health and safety protocols are prudent for our community. I will be in touch before April break to provide an update of our protocols.

Thank you again for your enduring collaboration.

Warm regards,

Michael Maniska
Head of School

Dear LILA Community,

As promised in my February 18 email, I am writing to provide some additional updates to our health and safety protocols. As new guidance continues to emerge, please note the following school policies:

> As of this coming Monday, March 7, the online daily student health screening will no longer be required. Instead, families will be asked to review a weekly announcement in Mosaïque and check for symptoms before arriving at school each morning. Students experiencing any symptoms should be kept home.
> Daily temperature checks upon arrival will be maintained for all students at least through the end of March.
> The weekly surveillance testing requirement will also be preserved for all students and employees at least through the end of March.
> We are conscious that LA County has decided to lift the indoor mask mandate for schools beginning March 12. With a focus on protecting the health of our community members, however, our LILA policy is that all students, employees, and visitors must continue to wear masks in all indoor spaces at least through the end of March.

These health and safety protocols will be reevaluated at the end of March, at which time I will be in touch to provide updated advice.

Thank you again for your continued collaboration in keeping our LILA community healthy and well.

Warm regards,

Michael Maniska
Head of School
