What awaits your child at this five-week camp is a daily schedule filled with French classes that are taught by highly experienced teachers (and designed for all levels), amazing counseling staff that will create a safe environment for your camper, and an overall fun and educating summer camp in a French cultural environment.

La Petite Ecole du Soleil, which is located at our Los Feliz Early Learning Center, will be open to children entering preschool, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten (under five years of age) in the fall. La Grande Ecole du Soleil, located at our Pasadena campus, will welcome K–5th graders.

French Cinema/Le Cinéma Français

(Week 1: June 22-June 26)
Lights, camera, action! In this immersive French cinema camp, our grande campers will step into the world of filmmaking as they create their very own short movie from start to finish. Campers will learn the fundamentals of acting, storytelling, directing, and video production, while also gaining hands-on experience with filming and basic editing techniques. Working collaboratively, they will develop scripts, perform, and bring their creative ideas to life.The week will culminate in a special screening of their film, where families can enjoy the final production. For our petite campers, activities are adapted to be playful and age-appropriate, focusing on imaginative storytelling, simple acting games, costume & prop making and guided group scenes.

Creative Athletes: Sports & Art Fusion/Les Athlètes Créatifs : Fusion du Sport et de l’Art

(Week 2: June 29-July 2)
This engaging camp introduces children to a variety of sports, with a focus on building fundamental skills, teamwork, and confidence. Campers will stay active while developing coordination, sportsmanship, and lasting friendships through fun, structured play. In addition to sports, students will explore their creativity through a wide range of hands-on art experiences, including painting, mixed media, sculpture, pottery, and introductory architectural design. Young artists will experiment with materials such as clay, wire, and canvas while learning foundational techniques like shaping, building structures, and working with texture and form, all in an immersive French environment.

STEM Explorers/Explorateurs des sciences et technologies

(Week 3: July 6-July 10)
Campers will explore science, technology, engineering, and creativity through a dynamic mix of robotics, coding, STEM art, and career exploration in the scientific field. Through age-appropriate interactive projects, students will build and program simple robotics, video game design through coding, and engage in creative STEM challenges that combine art with scientific thinking. All activities are designed to be engaging, hands-on, and accessible in a French immersion environment.

On Stage! Musical Theater Camp/Sur Scène ! Camp de Théâtre Musical

(Week 4: July 13-July 17)
Spend an exciting week singing show tunes, learning choreography, acting out scenes, and designing sets and props! Campers work together to create a fully staged musical performance by the end of the week. Activities will be conducted through a blend of French and English providing an immersive environment where students get the opportunity to develop their language skills naturally through music, movement, and performance. Join the fun—because there’s no business, like show business!

Around the World: Multicultural Festival!/Autour du Monde : Festival Multiculturel !

(Week 5: July 20-July 24)
Students will embark on a vibrant journey around the world as they explore diverse cultures through cooking, dance, music, and traditions. Through hands-on activities, they will learn about global cuisines, discover traditional dances, explore music from different regions, and gain an appreciation for cultural customs and celebrations. This camp offers children an engaging opportunity to experience diverse cultures, gain a deeper appreciation of the world around them, and enjoy meaningful, hands-on activities—all while learning and practicing French in a dynamic and immersive environment.

Petite Ecole du Soleil
(Preschool & Pre-K campers: ages 2–5)

Petite Ecole du Soleil is designed for children ages 2-5 who will be attending preschool or pre-kindergarten in the fall. Children must be potty-trained and have prior daycare experience.

The program introduces French through everyday activities like greetings, colors, fruits, and days of the week. Mornings focus on language acquisition, while afternoons feature fun activities such as games, arts and crafts, sports, singing, and reading.

In addition to language learning, the program emphasizes social-emotional development, helping children build social skills through daily interactions. Each week introduces a new theme, with activities tailored by the French teacher to engage and explore the theme.

Grande Ecole du Soleil
(Kindergarten–5th grade campers)

At Grande Ecole du Soleil, we offer a dynamic introduction to French language and culture. Through daily activities, campers will learn essential vocabulary, including greetings, colors, fruits, and days of the week, while developing key social skills through communication and interactions.

Mornings focus on immersive French language acquisition, while afternoons feature fun activities like games, arts, crafts, sports, singing, and reading to reinforce what they’ve learned. Each week explores a new theme, deepening campers’ understanding of French language and culture. Our experienced teachers ensure a fun, enriching, and educational experience at camp.

Is there a daily rate?
No, we do not offer daily or half-week rates. 

My child is between 2-5 years old, can they attend?
Children ages 2-5, who will be attending preschool and pre-kindergarten in the fall can enroll in Petite Ecole du Soleil. The children must be potty trained and have prior experience in a daycare environment.

When can I drop off and pick up my child?
While summer camp will run from 9:00am–3:00pm, daycare beginning at 8:00am and ending at 5:00pm will be available at an additional charge.

Will there be camp on Friday, July 3rd?
No, our campus will be closed and we will offer a modified rate for that week.

Who is on staff?
Our on-site staff and activity instructors are dedicated to providing a high-quality, safe, and enriching experience for campers. With backgrounds as qualified educators, they create an atmosphere where children can appreciate themselves and others. All staff members undergo background checks and hold CPR and first-aid certifications.

Does my child have to speak French?
No, we welcome students at all levels.

My child does not attend LILA during the school year, can they still attend?
Yes, we would love to expose your child to French at our premier French Summer Camp, Ecole du Soleil.

Can I purchase one week?
Yes, you can purchase weeks separately. 

Until when do I have to receive a full refund?
You can request to cancel for a specific week of camp 14 calendar days before that camp week’s start date.

When will I receive my welcome letter?
Welcome letters are sent out the week before the start of the enrolled week.
