The International School of Los Angeles, hereafter “the School” or “LILA”, respects your privacy and takes it seriously. This policy “Privacy Policy” governs the privacy of every individual who visits the School’s websites including www.internationalschool.la, www.Lilaschool.com “Websites” and all email communications and any other related services. This Privacy Policy outlines the information that the School may collect and how that information may be used and your choices.
The School reserves the right to alter this policy at any time by posting a new privacy policy at this location.
Definition
www.internationalschool.la and all other School websites are defined as publicly accessible with the exception of password/login protected pages hosted under the domain internationalschool.la. The School’s Websites may contain links to or features from other websites, applications, services etc. (for example: YouTube, Facebook, Instagram). This Privacy Policy covers only the policies of the School and not of any other websites, applications or services. International School of Los Angeles is not responsible for the privacy practices and policies of external sites linked from or referenced by the School’s Websites. If you choose to use the link to a third party website, application or service you should read the privacy policy of that specific website, application or service.
Personal Data/Information
The International School of Los Angeles will not automatically collect any personally identifiable information about you, such as name, address, telephone number or e-mail addresses through accessing the Schools’ Websites. We may however receive and store information you enter on our Websites or through any link on our Websites or through use of third party applications directly associated with the School’s services or provide to us in any other way. This may include the following amongst any other personal information required by the School to assess and process your request for services or any non-mandatory information you choose to provide:
- you or your child’s name
- mailing address
- phone number
- any other information you provide about you and your child when filling out the School’s Inquiry, Application and Enrollment applications through the School’s Websites or third party provided links such as birthdate, photo, nationality, language, education, employment, ethnicity, marital status or the country you live in, etc. or to use any other School services, providing feedback to us, filling out School surveys, sending messages via our student information system or requesting information or assistance from the School.
When you do provide personal data, that information may be used in the following ways, unless stated otherwise:
- To send you school-related information electronically or by mail
- To assess and fulfill a request you have made
- To update your school-maintained records
- To contact you by phone, messaging or email
Disclosing Information to Third Parties
The School will not sell, rent or market or otherwise transfer personal data about you to third parties.
This does not include affiliated entities controlled by the School or trusted Third Parties as noted below who assist the School in operating the School Websites, conducting the School’s business, or servicing you on behalf of the School, or third party vendors or service providers (including third parties that are located in countries other than your own), so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential as part of their privacy policy.
We may share Information with selected service providers, whose services and solutions complement, facilitate and enhance our own. Information Tracking
When you visit our websites, some information such as your internet network address, internet service provider, operating system, web browser version, site from which you arrived, and the time and date of your visit may be collected automatically as part of normal site operation. This information is not personally identifiable, and we do not link this information to any personally identifiable information you submit while using our site. This information is used solely to track web browsing patterns to better understand how our site is being used and, when necessary, to troubleshoot problems with the site.

We may embed content from other sites such as YouTube and social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. We have no control over whether embedded content sets a cookie on your browser or not and you will need to agree or otherwise to their cookie use policy if you wish to access the associated content.
Security
This School websites take every precaution to protect our users’ personal information. Whenever users submit personal information via online forms, that information is encrypted via the highest level of SSL (Secured Sockets Layer) available. We do not automatically store credit card numbers permanently on our website servers unless agreed by you through Third Party providers.
If you have a School account you can access your Personal Data/Information on our website through a username and password that you create. This password is encrypted and we recommend that you do not share it with anyone. We also encourage you to set a strong password for your account.
We also regularly monitor our systems for possible vulnerabilities and attacks, and regularly seek new ways for enhancing the security of our services and protection of our users’ privacy Please note that, despite our best efforts, no security measures are completely fool-proof.
EU GDPR Compliance and your Choices
Any processing of personal data is intended to be lawful and fair. We aim to make sure that an EU resident’s personal data/information collected by the School shall be in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Among other things, if you’re an EU resident user:
- You may access, correct, update or request deletion of your Personal Data/Information at any time by contacting the School using the contact details provided in the ‘Contact Information’ section of this Privacy Policy. However, any request to correct, update or delete personal information which is material to the School’s services or its ability to continue to offer you the School services is subject to the requirements of the US state and federal laws in relation to retention of Education Records and subject to the school’s admission and record retention policies and procedures.
- Object to us collecting or processing your information subject to the need to process your requests or to abide by laws in the School’s jurisdiction. You can ask us to stop using your information that we use to send you marketing and fundraising emails. If you opt out of receiving marketing or fundraising messages from us, we may still send you updates about your child’s school performance and related school correspondence. We only send you marketing and fundraising material if you’ve agreed to it, but if you’d rather we don’t, you can easily unsubscribe at any time through the easy-to-find link at the bottom of all email communication.
Exercise any of these rights, please contact the School in accordance with the contact details set forth in this policy. Please note that if you are not an EU resident and subject to EU law, these rights do not apply. However, US state and Federal applicable laws may entitle you to request copies of your personal information held by the School.
Children’s Privacy
- The School believes children merit specific protection with regard to their personal data. The School Websites and Services offered are targeted for general adult audiences who need to make educational decisions about their children and not directly for children. Any personal information of children provided by the parents or legal guardians are deemed lawfully provided as part of the parental and legal guardian responsibility for the children and the parents and legal guardians need to be aware of the risks, consequences and safeguards concerned, and their rights in relation to the processing of the children’s personal data by the School which may be subject to local jurisdictions.
- The School will not make use of use of personal data of children except for the legitimate use of their Personal Data/Information in relation to the School’s educational activities and services and in line with the requirements of the local jurisdictions and the applicable law and as expressly consented by the parents by submission of inquiries, applications and enrollment as part of their educational or other school activities.
Retention of Information
When you make an inquiry through the Websites, we will maintain your inquiry information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.
- We may retain some information as necessary for our legitimate business interests. To protect from accidental or malicious loss and destruction of data, residual copies of your information may not be removed from our backup systems for a certain period of time.
- We may retain and use information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (such as adherence to US state and federal laws).

www.internationalschool.la is a private website that is intended for academic, administrative and community use by the International School of Los Angeles students, faculty & staff, current parents, and alumni as well as interested members of the general public. By accessing www.internationalschool.la community participants agree to adhere to the following guidelines.

Acceptable Use
The use of this website must conform to its intended use. Transmission of any material in violation of any U.S. or state regulation is prohibited. This includes but is not limited to: copyrighted material, threatening or obscene material or material protected by trademark. Use for commercial activities, product advertisement or political lobbying is prohibited.
We may also share your Personal Data/Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful requests for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.
Vandalism
Vandalism will result in cancellation of privileges. Vandalism is defined as any malicious attempt to harm or destroy hardware, software or data of the School or of another user.
Your Consent
By using any of the School websites, platforms and/or third party provided services you consent to the online Privacy Policy and that you may be transferring your data and/or consenting to have your data transferred to and be processed in the United States.
