LILA’s inaugural Middle School Debate Summer Workshop is now open for registration. Each 7-day session includes five days of intensive, hands-on instruction and drills, followed by a two-day tournament for all participants. Students will develop skills in persuasive argumentation, refutation strategies, case-building, and confident public speaking.
The program is led by experienced coaches:
- Andrew J. Bigelow, Head Coach of LILA Middle School Debate, who has built a highly competitive program in one of Southern California’s strongest leagues and is a decorated former debater at both the middle and high school levels.
- Bilal Najaf, an international debater and member of the Claremont Debate Union at the Claremont Colleges, former World Schools Debate champion, and experienced debate camp counselor.
The workshop will take place at LILA’s Burbank Campus and is a day camp only (no overnight accommodations).

LILA students: $800 per session
Non-LILA students (schools sending 5+ students): $900 per session
